FREAKS BALL XL
Last Fri. Good Luck took me to Brooklyn Bowl to see some pretty amazing string work
Some Cat From Japan
They are a Jimi Hendrix cover band. I know, I love Jimi- but a Jimi Hendrix cover band? But, they were incredible. This band is based out of Brooklyn and the musicians are pretty important, I'm not much of a Jam band girl, but people kept screaming the musician's credentials at me. I was really into it. (http://www.jambands.com/features/2010/06/01/some-cat-from-japan-not-just-another-hendrix-cover-band)
El Ten Eleven
They are an instrumental duo from L.A. Kristian Dunn plays a plethora of basses. He plays two different double neck bass guitars and two different fretless bass guitars. Tim Fogarty plays an assortment of drums. Together they make some wild tracks. It's pretty mind-blowing. I've never seen anyone play the bass like that before. (http://www.elteneleven.com/secret/)
I was a little anitsocial. Oh wait, you're not supposed to film the back of people's heads? Duly noted.

DISCOUNTS- MT. SNOW
I used the Ride and Ski (http://www.rideandskine.com/Home.html) card and got two for one tickets on Fri.
I should have bought The Vermont Travel Club Card (http://classicskitours.net/vermontTravel.asp) for Sat. and Sun. The card saves you $19 on Sat. and $27 on Sun.
Mt. Snow also has a FanFare Card (http://mountsnow.com/buy-lift-tickets/). It's $79 and you get half off during the week, 25% off during the weekend, and 10% off of Holidays.

ELEVATED LOCAL- MARK GETS YOU TUNED
APR´ES IN NEW YORK
Mark has been hosting an apr´es on the Upper East side for three seasons. He used to ride with hard boots and bindings and race, so he appreciates a properly waxed board.

Then give Mark $25 and he will tune your board or skis and give you a PBR tall boy.

Mark is also a photographer (www.facebook.com/sweeneymarkd). These lovely ladies are his. He shoots in the studio and in the snow. You can find him at Hunter ripping big turns.

MT. SNOW- THE GATEWAY MOUNTAIN
The city is getting hit with storm after storm after storm. I keep leaving the city for Vermont; where we'll get an inch or so, if we're lucky. It's hilarious.
in front of my house in Brooklyn |
I went to Mt. Snow with Lil' Mo (Heather- http://www.motionetti.com), her Goshen family, and a dying cat. We stayed in a giant house with twenty beds and a view of the mountain. Big fun.
Mt Snow is in the Green Mountains of Vermont. It has 490 acres, an elevation of 3,600 ft, and a vert of 1,600 ft. It's not very steep. In the 60's Mt. Snow's founder/owner Walter Schoenknecht asked the Atomic Energy Commissions if he could have a nuclear bomb so Mt. Snow could have a bowl to ski in. They said no for some reason. Most mountains that I have ridden have a backside or something that requires hiking without lift access, but you can ride all the way around Mt. Pisgah.

Lil' Mo |
Friday no one was on the hill. Mo and I played all over.
Mt. snow has a gigantic park. It takes up all of the Carinthia ski area. It used to be a seperate mountain. There are twelve park areas of different levels and two pipes. (http://carinthiaparks.com/) They like to have the X-Games there. There are some amazing riders and skiers in the park- like an unordinary amount of amazing riders and skiers. Riding the Nitro Express is crazy. You just watch head after head kill it.
